PM Shehbaz Sharif Condemns Terror Attacks in DI Khan and Muscat, Pledges Firm Response
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a strong condemnation of a recent terrorist assault on a rural health centre (RHC) in Dera Ismail Khan, which resulted in tragic loss of life. The attack claimed the lives of two children, two health workers, a guard, and several security personnel, including Naib Subedar Muhammad Farooq and Sepoy Muhammad Javed Iqbal, who were martyred while defending the centre.
Expressing profound sorrow over the incident, PM Shehbaz extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls. He reaffirmed his determination to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan, highlighting the unity of the Pakistani people and their armed forces in this mission. He issued a stern warning that those aiding and abetting terrorist activities would face justice and that such heinous acts would not weaken the nation's resolve.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also denounced the attack, commending the bravery of the security forces who successfully neutralised the terrorists. He vowed to relentlessly pursue the perpetrators and ensure they are held accountable, emphasising that those who target innocent civilians would be brought to justice.
In a related incident, PM Shehbaz also expressed deep sorrow over a terrorist attack on Imam Bargah Ali bin Abu Talib in Muscat, Oman, which resulted in multiple fatalities, including four Pakistani nationals. Through a statement on X, he conveyed his condolences to the victims' families and directed the Pakistan Embassy in Muscat to provide all possible assistance to the injured and personally visit hospitals to offer support.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar echoed these sentiments, condemning the attack during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram and expressing condolences for the lives lost.
Furthermore, National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani condemned a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment. The NA Speaker honoured the martyred soldiers, expressing grief over the loss of eight brave servicemen and asserting that their sacrifices would be eternally remembered. Senate Chairman Gillani praised the swift and effective response of law enforcement agencies and reaffirmed that terrorists would not be allowed to disrupt the peace in Pakistan. Both leaders expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and reiterated their unwavering commitment to combating terrorism.
These statements reflect the government's resolve to confront and defeat terrorism, ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
